Zongzi Treasures: Taste the Essence of the Dragon Boat Festival at Pagoda Chinese Restaurant
This June, hotel guests and local residents are invited to celebrate the vibrant spirit of China’s iconic Dragon Boat Festival with a special Jiaxing Zongzi promotion at Pagoda Chinese Restaurant, the award-winning Cantonese dining destination at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park.
Originating in the city of Jiaxing in eastern China’s Zhejiang province, Jiaxing Zongzi are traditional glutenous rice dumplings with delicious sweet or savory fillings, which are wrapped in bamboo leaves and steamed to perfection. A cherished local delicacy, they have come to represent the essence of this joyous annual occasion.
To coincide with the Dragon Boat Festival this June, the talented chefs at Pagoda Chinese Restaurant have crafted two delectable flavors of Jiaxing Zongzi for guests to try. The Premium Meat version is generously filled with abalone, dried scallop, salted egg yolk, Chinese sausage, pork ribs, dried shrimp, shiitake mushrooms, soybeans, chestnuts and lotus seeds, while the Sweet variety will delight the taste buds with a blend of taro paste, ginkgo nuts, Chinese jujube, chestnuts, lotus seeds, red beans and soybeans.
These bite-sized treats can be enjoyed individually or purchased in a Zongzi Gift Box, which is ideal for sharing with friends and family, or presenting to business partners. Inspired by the elegance of bamboo leaves, which are used to steam the dumpling, these boxes feature calming green tones and open up to reveal the treasures within – just like the experience of unwrapping the zongzi.
